Job summary

Tecknomic in Liberty, North Carolina, is seeking a Senior CAD Engineer to support Production Engineering for automotive and EV battery manufacturing projects on-site. You will create and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models for production equipment layouts and installation packages, applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and coordinating with vendors and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• CAD experience in automotive, battery, or manufacturing plant environments.
• GD&T expertise per ASME Y14.5 (datum structures, tolerances, weld symbols, materials, finishes).
• Ability to run multiple concurrent projects and manage schedules independently.
• 7+ years CAD experience in industrial/manufacturing environments.
• Advanced AutoCAD for 2D layouts and installation drawings.
• Proficiency with Inventor, Revit, Navisworks and Autodesk cloud tools.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models of production equipment to project standards.
• Develop process-equipment and facility layouts for battery manufacturing lines.
• Create contractor-ready packages for installation, quotation, procurement, fabrication, construction, and bidding.
• Define equipment locations, utility routing, dimensions, and installation constraints.
• Build assembly and detail drawings, BOMs, and vendor drawing packages.
• Incorporate field verification results and as-built updates with disciplined revision control.
• Coordinate drawing updates with engineering, production, and vendors.
• Maintain CAD files, drawing registers, and release workflows.
