Job summary

RRC Companies seeks a Senior CAD Designer in the Austin/Round Rock, TX area to transform concepts into detailed Civil 3D drawings and GIS-based designs for renewable energy projects.

You will lead civil construction plans, coordinate with engineers, and mentor juniors while maintaining CAD standards and efficient workflows. A 5–7 year track record and a civil engineering background are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of high-level AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS experience delivering complex civil designs.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or drafting/design; Civil engineering preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Strong Civil 3D project organization, CAD standards, and GIS proficiency required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and able to communicate technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead transformation of conceptual designs into detailed CAD documents using Civil 3D and GIS tools.
• Develop preliminary layouts and final designs; ensure integration with notes, surveys, shapefiles, and mapping.
• Prepare civil construction plans for wind and solar projects including site layouts and drainage.
• Review drawings for completeness and accuracy; coordinate with PM and engineering teams to drive milestones.
• Implement document control and manage multiple projects with changing timelines.
• Mentor junior staff and promote CAD standards and streamlined processes.
