Job description

Marmon Foodservice Technologies, Inc.

As a part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings—which is backed by Berkshire Hathaway—you’ll be doing things that matter, leading at every level, and winning a better way. We’re committed to making a positive impact on the world, providing you with diverse learning and working opportunities, and fostering a culture where everyone’s empowered to be their best.

About The Job

Although you may not know us by name, you’ve most likely enjoyed meals and refreshments supported by our industry-leading brand portfolio. For decades, we’ve designed and manufactured foodservice equipment for some of the world’s biggest, most recognized consumer brands. We are driven to innovate with a clear purpose in mind: to revolutionize the future of foodservice.

As a Senior Designer, you will be responsible for executing small design projects or supporting complex projects with 3D CAD, dimensioned drawings and schematics, bill of material management, and PCR/PCN execution. You will drive collaboration with cross-functional teams to perform technical analysis and reviews and oversee the application of critical learnings and environmental factors in the design of equipment. In this role, you will serve as an expert in the design and functionality of our equipment and contribute significantly to MFT’s growth and innovation.

This role is subject to our hybrid work model: we collaborate in the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The rest of the week, you have flexibility to work wherever it suits you best.

What You’ll Do
  • Contribute to complex product development programs by creating 3D CAD designs, dimensioned engineering drawings, bills of material, and schematics of parts and assemblies, and execute changes through the PCR/PCN process.
  • Lead design process methodologies like Failure Mode Analysis, Design for Manufacturing, and Design for Reliability with cross‑functional teams.
  • Conduct technical analyses and reviews with cross‑functional support and apply the findings to improve the quality and reliability of our designs.
  • Partner with the team on 8D issue resolution programs.
  • Develop technical drawings, models, and specifications using engineering software and tools and update them according to findings from reviews, simulations, testing, and field trials.
  • Develop expertise in the environmental factors, use cases, and consumer values of our equipment, and apply them to the design work.
  • Identify areas for improvement in the design process, troubleshoot technical issues, and drive best practices for our design team.
  • Lead collaboration with cross‑functional teams, including engineers, technicians, project managers, and stakeholders, to ensure project goals are met.
  • Monitor and apply the latest industry design tools and master advanced skills such as surfacing, modelling and referencing of large assemblies, plastic part design for thermoforming or injection moulding, and metals design for casting or stamping.
  • Actively participate in continuous learning and professional development activities, including attending training programmes, and bring learnings to our team by hosting workshops or mentoring team members.
Who You Are
  • Independent Self‑Starter: Takes prompt, proactive action to accomplish work goals with limited oversight.
  • Collaborative Partner: Uses interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
  • Strategic Thinker: Relies on analytical and problem‑solving skills to think strategically and execute tactically.
  • Clear Communicator: Speaks and writes effectively to convey technical information, project requirements, and progress updates to team members and stakeholders.
Skills/Experience We’re Looking For
  • Expertise in CAD software for models, schematics, drawings, and bills of material.
  • Specialised skills in multiple areas such as tubing and wiring, surfacing, referencing, GD&T, and complex part design.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to convey technical information clearly.
  • Ability to effectively leverage AI tools to improve design/development efficiency.
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced employees.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in a CAD Designer role.
  • 5+ years of experience in consumer goods, or commercial foodservice fields.
Benefits
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and Prescription Drug insurance plans.
  • Access to a Health Advocate who is an expert in Marmon’s health plan and can help you select the best health benefits for you and your family.
  • Tax‑advantaged spending accounts for health and dependent care expenses.
  • Wellness programmes and resources including telehealth, mental health, fitness, and family planning.
  • Generous paid time off for personal use, holidays, and parental leave.
  • Company‑sponsored life insurance.
  • 401(k) with fully vested company match; Marmon may also make an additional annual discretionary contribution to your account, whether or not you contribute on your own.
  • Financial and retirement advising.
