Job summary
Conceras is seeking a Lead Cable Technician to oversee installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling at a San Diego DoD facility. You will coordinate changes, manage inventory, and supervise technicians to ensure top-quality fiber and copper network infrastructure in line with industry standards.
The role requires an Active Secret Clearance, experience in ISP/OSP work, and leadership ability to deliver projects on schedule while complying with DoD regulations and safety
Qualifications
- Active Secret Clearance required.
- BICSI Installer Certification.
- 5+ years experience in cable plant operations incl. fiber and copper.
- Strong knowledge of BICSI, NEC, EIA/TIA standards.
- Experience with rack/cabinet installations, fiber splicing, and OSP conduit.
- Ability to read floor plans, network schematics, and cable routing diagrams.
- Familiarity with testing tools like OTDR and Fluke testers.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Visio, and MS Office for documentation.
Responsibilities
- Lead installation and maint of CAT5e, CAT6 and fiber cabling per BICSI standards.
- Manage project planning, material inventory, and workforce allocation.
- Ensure compliance with DoD and government network security requirements; produce documentation.
- Lead a team of technicians, provide training in fiber splicing and cable management, and mentor junior staff.
