Job summary

Elliott Davis is seeking a CAAS Projects Advisory Senior in Charleston to lead project-based accounting engagements and advise clients on complex financial challenges. You will work with Managers and Directors, owning key workstreams and delivering practical solutions to strengthen client accounting operations.

The role requires a CPA, 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting a plus), and a proactive, customer‑facing mindset to drive value across diverse engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA license.
• Typically 4 to 6 years of progressive accounting experience. Candidates with approximately 3 years of public accounting audit experience plus CAAS/advisory experience will be considered.
• Public accounting audit experience or comparable experience providing a strong foundation in financial reporting, month‑end close, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Naturally curious, accountable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in changing environments.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate with engagement teams, and communicate directly with customers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

Responsibilities

• Execute project‑based accounting and finance engagements, including cash‑to‑accrual conversions, accounting cleanup and remediation, month‑end close support and optimization, process improvement, and ERP or accounting system transitions.
• Support interim Assistant Controller and other accounting leadership engagements by helping customers manage close, reporting, reconciliations, and day‑to‑day accounting priorities.
• Own significant workstreams with limited supervision, including planning tasks, gathering information, resolving issues, and communicating progress.
• Prepare and review account reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting schedules, process documentation, and other engagement deliverables.
• Investigate accounting issues, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions that meet customer needs and support sound operations.
• Work directly with Controllers, accounting teams, and other customer stakeholders; participate in meetings and present work product and recommendations.
• Balance hands‑on execution with increasing responsibility for leading portions of meetings, projects, and customer interactions.
• Coach associates through delegation, review, feedback, and hands‑on learning.
• Coordinate priorities and deadlines across multiple engagements while proactively communicating risks or barriers.
• Maintain responsibility for the quality, accuracy, timeliness, and practical usefulness of assigned work.
• Collaborate with Managers, Directors, and professionals across Elliott Davis to deliver integrated customer solutions.
