Job summary

Symbology in Chicago seeks a Senior Architect to design, implement, and maintain large-scale C++ systems powering symbol resolution and financial data delivery. You will architect service-oriented components, optimize latency, and ensure reliability across enterprise-scale pipelines.

You will participate in design reviews, mentor engineers, and champion best practices while collaborating with internal teams and external clients to deliver robust, high-performance APIs and data interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience programming in C++.
• Strong grounding in data structures, algorithms, and OO design.
• Experience designing distributed, scalable enterprise systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Clear written and spoken communication for team collaboration.
• Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Exposure to CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions/Jenkins, or automation.
• Familiarity with additional languages (e.g., Perl, Python, Shell) is a plus.
• Knowledge of MSSQL or MySQL is beneficial.
• Experience with Perforce for version control is a plus.
• Familiarity with Ansible or Terraform is helpful.
• Understanding financial data concepts or symbol resolution at scale is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain C++ systems powering Symbology and company-wide resolution.
• Design and optimize high-throughput and low-latency service-oriented systems at enterprise scale.
• Build scalable APIs, interfaces, and integration layers for internal and external clients.
• Participate in technical design and code reviews.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and refine production environments to ensure quality and stability of Symbology's T0 service offering.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote technical excellence.
• Work on scalable architectures and pipelines that process financial data for clients worldwide.
