Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a senior C++ developer for Internal Tooling & Optimization to design, build, and optimize high-performance systems powering AI training pipelines. This is a remote, hourly-contract role with 20–40 hours per week, ideal for systems-minded engineers who love performance tuning and building reliable tooling that other engineers rely on.

You will work across data pipelines, annotation tooling, and evaluation infrastructure, embedding Python or Lua as needed, and collaborating

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of production-grade C++ experience.
• Strong systems programming background.
• Experience profiling and resolving bottlenecks in data-intensive environments.
• Experience embedding Python or Lua in C++ applications.
• Clear and precise written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize high-performance C++ systems supporting AI data pipelines and evaluation workflows
• Develop full-stack tooling and backend services for large-scale data annotation, validation, and quality control
• Profile and debug existing C++ codebases to identify bottlenecks and implement scalable, reliable fixes
• Embed scripting languages within C++ applications to create flexible, extensible tooling
• Collaborate with data, research, and engineering teams to support model training and evaluation workflows
• Identify edge cases in data and system behavior and drive systematic improvements
• Participate in synchronous design reviews to iterate on architecture and implementation decisions
