Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join a mission-critical engineering team. You will develop, integrate, test, and support complex embedded software across full lifecycle, focusing on Linux/RTOS environments and C/C++ development.

The role requires strong collaboration across engineering disciplines, participation in reviews, and experience with hardware/software integration, test automation, and safety-critical standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of software engineering experience (or 2+ years with a graduate degree).
• 3+ years of embedded software development experience.
• 3+ years of C++ systems development experience.
• Experience with Linux and Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
• Experience with hardware/software integration and testing.
• Python-based test automation experience.
• Experience with APIs, BSPs, drivers, and distributed systems design.
• Experience participating in architecture reviews and major design reviews.
• Understanding of software/computer architecture and hardware/software co-design.
• Active Secret Clearance
• DO-178C or other safety-critical software development experience.
• Experience with mission computing, memory systems, and display systems.
• Experience with OpenGL
• Experience with VxWorks, LynxOS, or Integrity RTOS
• Intel x86, ARM, FPGA, and SoC experience
• 3+ years of Linux device driver development
• Linux kernel-space/user-space development experience
• Bash scripting and Release Engineering experience
• Experience with configuration management, debug/trace analysis, and software verification/validation

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded software for mission systems.
• Support hardware/software integration and verification activities.
• Contribute to architecture and design reviews, code reviews, and test reviews.
• Perform troubleshooting, investigations, and performance improvements.
• Lead or collaborate across cross-functional teams to ensure product delivery.
