Job summary

Berklee College of Music in Boston seeks an experienced Senior Buyer to manage end-to-end purchasing for goods, equipment, and services across all departments, balancing regulatory compliance with cost efficiency to keep operations running smoothly.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Procurement and Campus Business Services, you will lead strategic sourcing, contract management, vendor relations, and financial automation with Workday Financials, while advising campus stakeholders and training

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 8–10+ years in purchasing, strategic sourcing, and contract administration.
• Advanced proficiency with computer software; Workday Financial System is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, project management, and contract negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare bid specifications, RFPs, RFQs, and purchase orders; evaluate supplier bids to negotiate pricing and contract terms.
• Identify quality sources of supply, establish institution-wide contracts, and maintain vendor relationships.
• Review contracts for clear terms, minimize liability, protect resources, and monitor vendor compliance.
• Expedite ordering and delivery; monitor PO initiation through goods receipt, invoice auditing, and payments.
• Leverage Workday Financials to streamline purchasing workflows and enhance departmental service.
• Serve as trusted advisor to campus stakeholders, sourcing items, resolving disputes, and training staff on procurement policies.
