Job summary

Buehler, a division of Illinois Tool Works, is seeking a Senior Buyer in the Lake Bluff, IL area to lead end-to-end material replenishment and strategic sourcing. You will manage supplier relationships, negotiate terms, and drive cost optimization while aligning with engineering and quality teams to meet production needs and service levels.

The role requires 5+ years in electro-mechanical sourcing, ERP experience, and strong negotiation, with travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in sourcing/purchasing electro-mechanical components.
• Experience in supplier negotiations and problem solving related to cost, delivery, service.
• Ability to identify business process issues and drive improvements.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• ERP procurement systems experience; BI tools and Excel proficiency.
• APICS/CPM/CPSM certification is a plus.
• Willingness to travel 0-10%.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end material replenishment and procurement for assigned commodities, ensuring supply continuity and cost optimization.
• Lead MRD and Kanban-based replenishment strategies with inventory parameters and supplier commitments.
• Own supplier relationships and performance, driving improvements in delivery, quality, cost, and service.
• Proactively manage material requirements and supply risks, resolve shortages and capacity constraints.
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies through supplier selection, bidding, negotiations, and alternate-source development.
• Lead negotiations and cost optimization initiatives to improve total cost of ownership.
• Partner with Engineering and Quality to align on material requirements and supplier transitions.
• Drive procurement best practices, ERP data accuracy, and compliance with policies.
