Job summary

SAM Medical is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to lead purchasing and sourcing activities that keep materials available and inventory at healthy levels. This hands-on role requires a highly analytical, self-motivated professional with extensive experience in purchasing, strategic sourcing, and supplier management.

The Senior Buyer will manage supplier relationships, negotiate terms, identify sources, and use data to guide decisions.

Qualifications

• Significant, progressively responsible experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret purchasing, inventory, and supplier data.
• Ability to manage priorities with limited day-to-day supervision.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating with suppliers to improve cost, service, or supply continuity.

Responsibilities

• Plan and purchase raw materials, components, and supplies to meet production requirements.
• Analyze purchasing, inventory, lead-time, and usage data to support material availability.
• Develop and maintain inventory controls, including Kanban systems.
• Monitor inventory to avoid excess stock and obsolescence.
• Source, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers; develop alternate sources for continuity.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms to achieve favorable total cost.
• Build relationships with suppliers and respond to issues and opportunities.
• Maintain purchase orders, supplier records, and product specifications.
• Collaborate with Production, Planning, Quality, and Regulatory teams to resolve supply issues.
• Support ISO 13485 and FDA regulatory requirements in partnership with Quality/Regulatory.
• Visit suppliers and participate in trade shows to assess capabilities and identify sourcing opportunities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in purchasing, inventory management, and supplier performance.
