The Michaels Companies, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Buyer in Irving, TX to lead end‑to‑end buying strategy, negotiate with key vendors, and mentor a merchandising team. You will shape the category vision with data‑driven insights and collaborate across functions to deliver compelling assortments that meet financial and customer goals.

You will own your category, drive performance, and partner with planning and inventory teams to optimize inventory levels while delivering strong financial results.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of merchandising experience with focus on strategic buying and vendor management.
• Deep understanding of retail trends, consumer behavior, and market dynamics.
• Proven track record in driving sales, profitability, and inventory management.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent negotiation and communication with suppliers and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to motivate a team.
• Strong organizational and time management in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Category strategy ownership and end‑to‑end buying responsibilities.
• Lead vendor negotiations and partner with sourcing to meet IMU goals.
• Develop winning assortment strategy across price points and presentations.
• Align promotional plans with pricing and market competitiveness.
• Collaborate on financial plans and monitor performance against plans.
