A leading automotive company is seeking a Senior Buyer for its Autonomous Robotic Center (ARC) team. The role involves driving procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and leading cross-functional teams. Ideal candidates will have significant experience in purchasing and supply chain management, complemented by strong analytical and negotiation skills.
Hybrid : This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren – GM Global Technical Center three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business
GM’s Indirect Purchasing team is looking for an Autonomous Robotic Center (ARC) Technologies Senior Buyer. A successful candidate is familiar with the purchasing process, working cross-functionally with stakeholders and suppliers, project management, data-based decision making, and equipment technology. In addition, is creative and curious, open to working in ambiguity and thinking outside the box to meet the demands of the growing advanced technologies market.
Job Description/Responsibility
Serve as coordinator of all ARC purchasing activities, support team, holistic sourcing landscape, and PET engagement
Manage the complete commodity and sourcing process from strategy development to the issuance of PO and sourcing pipelines
Identify potential suppliers which will improve the overall competitiveness of GM
Develop sourcing strategies by analyzing the supply base, customer needs, market conditions and technology roadmaps
Lead cross-functional strategic global sourcing teams
Lead contractual negotiations with suppliers to optimize GM’s competitive position, including General Terms & Conditions and Global Supply Agreements
Manage key strategic supplier relationships and develop relationships with new suppliers
Conduct spend analysis, benchmarking, and market research to identify savings and efficiency opportunities
Create and maintain dashboards to provide visibility to upper management on various topics
Develop and deliver high-impact presentations to various levels of GM leadership

Additional Job DescriptionRequired Qualifications:
5+ years relevant post-graduate work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, or product development
Data Judgement - Ability to objectively analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions
Informative Communication - Ability to communicate relevant information to the appropriate audience both effectively and timely
Relationship Management - Develops and maintains constructive, cooperative working relationships
Negotiation - engage in collaborative discussions to reach meaningful agreements
Analytical Thinking - Consider various factors in decision making to determine solutions and their impacts
Results Focus - Take charge without prompting, seize opportunities and deliver on time
Workload Management - Manage multiple tasks with quality and prioritize by critical needs
SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems
Strong sense of urgency and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Project management experience and contract development expertise.
Expertise in MS Office tools: Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Ability to travel 10% of the time domestically
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts in Supply Chain Management or a related field
Experience with automation, equipment, robotics, software, IT or related
Experience with Automotive
Experience with Commodities
Ability to work independently, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment
Strong oral and written communication skills
