Job Description

MGS has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Buyer to join our MGS Germantown Manufacturing team.

As a Senior Buyer at MGS, you will be responsible for maintaining commodity suppliers, purchasing assigned materials at the lowest total approved cost for the required quantity, quality, and delivery. You will communicate promptly any material problems and lead in finding and presenting solutions. You will also aid in the development and implementation of procurement planning programs.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Follow all safety rules, work practices, and SOPs.
• Model safe work practices and behaviors, conducting yourself professionally.
• Review demands via the MRP engine using ERP software.
• Issue and determine purchase order placements with capable suppliers.
• Expedite materials and handle rejections or issues, including issuing SCAR and RTV.
• Communicate with related departments as needed.
• Monitor purchase prices and alert the team of significant cost changes.
• Understand and maintain the procurement system (ERP) and related databases.
• Develop procurement plans to ensure material availability at optimal costs.
• Manage inventory and forecast material consumption.
• Address and escalate quality, delivery, or pricing issues.
• Negotiate with suppliers through the Director of Strategic Sourcing.
• Review supplier facilities and capabilities for qualification.
• Maintain and evaluate supplier performance using scorecards.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Obtain and compare quotations, selecting suppliers based on key criteria.
• Seek cost-saving opportunities and market intelligence.
• Perform duties ethically and according to procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree is a plus.
• Five+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent.
