Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit is seeking a Senior Buyer. The Senior Buyer plays a pivotal role in delivering senior-level procurement services for the organization, specializing in the acquisition of complex and highly technical contracts. The Senior Buyer is responsible for managing the full cycle of highly complex procurements. This includes the development, coordination, and administration of invitations for bids, requests for proposals, and requests for qualifications. The incumbent will conduct detailed analyses related to procurements, manage extensive administrative and procurement records, and recommend improvements to organizational and operational procedures.
The ideal candidate for the Senior Buyer position will have a comprehensive background in procurement, marked by a steadfast focus on compliance and operational efficiency. This individual should be a people person with a knack for building relationships and collaborating effectively across various teams. They will possess exceptional analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a solid foundation in procurement principles. Experience in negotiating and managing complex contracts is essential. Prior experience in the non-profit or public sector is highly desirable, enhancing the candidate’s ability to understand SMART’s unique operational context.
