Job summary

Tarkett is seeking a Senior Buyer to manage the plant procurement function at the Middlefield manufacturing facilities. You will source and procure raw materials, manage supplier relationships, and lead RFP/RFQ processes across campus areas.

You will mentor procurement staff, coordinate with the TNA team, and drive continuous improvement in inventory accuracy and reporting, using SAP and ERP systems to support production and cost goals.

  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in Procurement and Supply Chain within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems, including data analysis and system-based process management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across operational, financial, and leadership teams.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build effective working relationships.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with follow-through and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee plant procurement function for Middlefield facilities, supporting daily operations with raw materials.
  • Manage plant-specific raw materials, supplier relationships, and supplier quality to ensure total cost of ownership, quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Lead RFP/RFQ processes and facilitate raw material projects across plant areas from start to finish.
  • Collaborate with plant functions and TNA Procurement Team to identify cost savings and drive them to completion.
  • Mentor and manage procurement staff, including performance reviews and development plans.
  • Support inventory management, including monthly physical counts, outsourcing counts, and reconciliation in SAP.

Job description

The Senior Buyer will oversee the plant procurement function at Middlefield manufacturing facilities. This will include, but not to be limited to supporting the daily operations of the plants from a raw material perspective, managing plant specific supplier relationship, material, facilitating raw material projects across campus functional areas, SAP training and implementation for P2P function, providing support for the TNA procurement team, and communicating appropriate reporting, cost savings, and continuous improvement opportunities to management while overseeing procurement data management for the campus. Overseeing campus monthly physical inventory and outsourcing inventory reconciliations. This position will also have a direct report. Specific duties include: Understand the plant-specific raw portfolio and suppliers to effectively source and procure materials to support production. Manage plant-specific raw materials, supplier relationships, and supplier quality to ensure the best total cost of ownership, quality, and on‑time delivery, and effectively use the RFP/RFQ process. Facilitate raw material projects across appropriate plant functional areas from start to completion, to include proper communication to suppliers, identification of metrics, and measurement of success. Collaborate with appropriate plant functional areas and TNA Procurement Team members to effectively identify synergies & cost savings opportunities, and drive the opportunities to completion, with measurable revenue recognition. Effectively lead plant purchasing associates through performance reviews, mentoring, development plans, and oversee transactional activities, including raw material inventory management. Support organizational goals and objectives of management, while acting as a positive change agent. Proficiently use SAP and other ERP operating systems, and software to effectively support this position. Assist in preparing presentations by gathering information, data, and creating charts. Communicate with external customers, suppliers, technical partners, and internal associates at all levels and across multiple functional areas. Prepare and maintain all documentation and systems required for the monthly physical inventory process, including generating count sheets and coordinating count activities. Collect, review, and consolidate inventory count data from operations teams to ensure accuracy and completeness. Enter and reconcile approved inventory counts within SAP after review and approval by the Supply Chain Manager and Finance. Maintain and manage inventory measurement tools used during physical counts, including pigment measuring devices, scales, and battery packs, ensuring all equipment is calibrated and operational. Support continuous improvement of inventory processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and system integrity. Reconciliation of outsourcing inventory monthly.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in Procurement and Supply Chain within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems, including data analysis and system-based process management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across operational, financial, and leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build effective working relationships.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to follow through on issues and drive resolution.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when working with inventory, procurement, or operational data.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as APICS CPIM, CSCP, CPSM, or other supply chain or procurement certifications.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI, including data modeling, dashboards, and advanced analytics.
  • Experience supporting inventory control, cycle counting, or physical inventory processes within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments with Operations, Finance, and Logistics teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with process improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement projects.
