Job summary

GEDIA North America is seeking a Senior Buyer to shape strategic purchasing for automotive components and tooling. You will develop sourcing strategies, negotiate supplier contracts, and support new product launches to ensure uninterrupted materials flow.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for automotive components, materials, tooling, equipment, and services.
• Lead supplier sourcing activities including RFIs, RFQs, evaluation, and selection.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and agreements to improve profitability and mitigate risks.
• Drive cost reduction, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and service levels.
• Support new product launches with APQP/PPAP involvement and change management.
• Identify supply chain risks, capacity concerns, and market fluctuations.
• Develop and onboard new suppliers with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, Projects, Quality, Operations, Logistics, Production, and Supply Chain teams.
• Manage purchase orders, delivery schedules, supplier records, and procurement docs in SAP.
• Prepare purchasing metrics and reports to support strategic decisions.
• Build strong supplier relationships for long-term success.

In this highly visible role, you’ll play a critical part in developing sourcing strategies, negotiating supplier agreements, supporting new product launches, and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of materials and services that keep our business moving forward. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams throughout North America while helping drive purchasing excellence across our organization.

Your Role

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for automotive components, materials, tooling, equipment, and services.
• Lead supplier sourcing activities, including RFIs, RFQs, supplier evaluation, and supplier selection.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial agreements to improve profitability and mitigate supply risks.
• Drive cost reduction, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives across assigned commodities.
• Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, responsiveness, and overall service levels.
• Support new product launches by participating in APQP, PPAP, engineering changes, and program implementation activities.
• Identify and proactively address supply chain risks, capacity concerns, and market fluctuations.
• Develop and onboard new suppliers in partnership with Supplier Development Engineering and cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, Projects, Quality, Operations, Logistics, Production, and Supply Chain teams to achieve business objectives.
• Manage purchase orders, delivery schedules, supplier records, and procurement documentation within SAP and approved purchasing systems.
• Prepare purchasing metrics, analyses, and reports that support strategic decision-making and operational excellence.
• Build strong supplier relationships that support long-term business success and performance expectations.

Required Qualifications

• 5-7 years of Procurement, Purchasing, or Supply Chain experience within the automotive industry.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Experience managing supplier relationships and strategic sourcing initiatives.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work effectively with suppliers and stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization.
• Exceptional communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP experience.
• Knowledge of E-Procurement systems.
• Experience supporting automotive new product launches and supplier development initiatives.
• Understanding of APQP, PPAP, and automotive manufacturing processes.
• German language skills are a plus.
• Experience working within a global manufacturing organization.
