Medtronic Performance System (MPS) is a standardized operating system of proven methodologies that eliminates sources of variation, ensuring consistent and sustainable performance results. At MPS University, our objective is to provide a comprehensive and accessible platform to enhance your knowledge and skills in MPS.

As the Senior Business Process Improvement Program Manager (Operational Excellence – MPS University Lead), you will be a core member of the Enterprise Capability Excellence team to guide, deploy, and execute the Medtronic Performance System. You will lead or co-lead the creation of training and content for MPS, and develop competencies and capabilities by aligning leadership behaviors to the desired OPEX culture.

You will work closely with Regional and Site OpEx leaders to pilot and deploy a comprehensive curriculum based on scheduled offerings and need-based classes, kaizen events, and workshops. You will be at the forefront of Medtronic’s mission to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life by developing the skills and competencies of our teams to deliver life-saving products.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Serve as the OpEx partner to global manufacturing and functions within the region.
  • Partner with global manufacturing and functional leaders to define priorities and accountability for MPS deployment.
  • Champion MPS maturity strategy for the region with the Regional OpEx leader.
  • Regional Subject Matter Expert for MPS capabilities.
  • Lead regional Community of Practice and best practice sharing & deployment.
  • Partner with internal improvement resources to develop training and content, and align messaging and materials for MPS deployment.
  • Support sites and organizations within the region on critical projects and improvement efforts (kaizen).
  • Deliver improvements in performance, process excellence, and programmatic savings through capability building.
  • Coach sites and functions on “one best way” self-assessments of OPEX effectiveness.
  • Leverage other functional OpEx teams as needed to improve cross-functional alignment.
  • Allocate time approximately as follows: 25% teaching MPS leadership, 50% facilitating kaizen workshops and MPS assessments, and 25% coaching and MPS evolution.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Broad management knowledge and experience leading project teams within a department.
  • Mastery level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline, with broad understanding of related areas.
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven strategic leadership in operational excellence at regional level.
  • Technical competence in OPEX, Lean, & Six Sigma (Green Belt certification and advanced lean certification).
  • Ability to teach, facilitate Kaizen, coach MPS methods, and train content relevant to manufacturing and functional areas.
  • Experience in manufacturing/operations and business process improvement.
  • Strong collaboration and networking skills across organizational levels.
  • Lean certification/training with over 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Solid change management, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Deep understanding of holistic operational excellence frameworks (TPM, BPM, DBS, TPS, etc.) and tools.
  • Experience leading or deploying operational excellence initiatives at global or regional levels in manufacturing/operations for over 5 years.
  • Influence and gravitas to work with and impact regional leadership.
  • Ability to develop strategic roadmaps for program deployment and standardization.
  • Proficiency in coaching and assessing OPEX effectiveness at various sites and functions.
  • Ability to influence change without direct authority, sell ideas, and approach strategically.
