Orion Placement seeks a senior trial attorney in Texas to lead sophisticated business and commercial litigation from inception through trial. The role offers hybrid work with strong preference for candidates based in Texas.

You will own cases, craft strategy, supervise depositions and hearings, and deliver persuasive motions and written advocacy while collaborating with a growing litigation team.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree and active Texas Bar license.
  • 10+ years of experience practicing law with business/commercial litigation.
  • 5+ years of substantial hands-on trial litigation experience.
  • Strong legal research and persuasive writing skills.
  • First chair or lead trial experience preferred.
  • Ability to independently manage complex cases and deadlines.
  • Excellent courtroom presence and advocacy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex business and commercial litigation from initial assessment through resolution and trial.
  • Develop and execute sophisticated litigation strategies based on facts, law, business objectives, and risks.
  • Conduct and defend depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Draft persuasive motions, briefs, pleadings, discovery, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and apply relevant law to complex issues.
  • Analyze contracts, business records, financial documents, and other evidence.
  • Communicate with clients regarding strategy, risks, and outcomes.
  • Manage discovery, court filings, deadlines, and priorities independently.
  • Collaborate with attorneys while maintaining ownership of assigned matters.

Location:

Irving, Texas. This is primarily a hybrid opportunity combining remote flexibility with in office collaboration in the Dallas and Irving area. Fully remote arrangements may be considered for exceptional candidates, with a strong preference for attorneys based in Texas.

Note:

This is a senior trial attorney role. Candidates must have an active Texas Bar license, 10+ years practicing law, 5+ years of business or commercial litigation experience, and 5+ years of substantial hands on trial litigation experience. Exceptional legal research and writing skills are also required.

Job Description

  • Manage complex business and commercial litigation matters from initial assessment through resolution and trial

  • Conduct and defend depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
  • Draft persuasive motions, briefs, pleadings, discovery, legal correspondence, and other litigation documents
  • Conduct thorough legal research and apply relevant law to complex factual and procedural issues
  • Analyze contracts, business records, financial documents, and other evidence
  • Prepare witnesses, exhibits, evidence, and arguments for hearings and trialCommunicate directly with clients regarding litigation strategy, developments, risks, and potential outcomes
  • Manage discovery, court filings, deadlines, and competing litigation priorities independently
  • Collaborate with attorneys and litigation professionals while maintaining ownership of assigned matters

Qualifications

  • 10+ years practicing law
  • Active Texas Bar license required
  • 5+ years of significant business or commercial litigation experience
  • 5+ years of substantial hands on trial litigation experience
  • Demonstrated ability to handle matters through discovery, hearings, and trial
  • Exceptional legal research and persuasive writing skills
  • Strong courtroom presence, oral advocacy, negotiation, and litigation strategy skills
  • Ability to independently manage complex cases and multiple deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • First chair or lead trial experience strongly preferred
  • Experience taking jury trials through verdict strongly preferred
  • Admission to an additional state bar preferred
