Job summary

Central Bank in Urbandale, IA, or Sioux Falls, SD, seeks a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to design and maintain reporting, data, and BI solutions that illuminate operations and performance. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of experience in business intelligence, SQL development, data development, analytics or similar duties.
• Advanced experience developing reports, dashboards and data solutions using Microsoft Power BI and SQL.
• Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT, database development and data integration.
• Strong understanding of data visualization, reporting and BI development practices.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SSRS, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric or similar technologies preferred.
• Banking or financial services experience preferred.
• Advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining reporting, data and business intelligence solutions that help the Bank better understand its operations, customers and overall performance. This role combines strong technical expertise with an understanding of business needs to turn data from across the Bank into accurate, useful and accessible information.

The position works with departments throughout the Bank to understand reporting and data needs, develop practical solutions and identify opportunities to improve reporting, processes and decision-making. The role also maintains the underlying data connections, models and processes needed to ensure information is reliable and available when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Business Intelligence, Reporting & Analytics

• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, scorecards and other business intelligence tools that support Bank operations and decision-making.
• Work with departments to understand reporting and information needs and translate those needs into practical data solutions.
• Analyze data to identify trends, variances, opportunities and other information useful to Bank leaders and departments.
• Help establish meaningful measures and reporting that allow departments to monitor performance and make informed decisions.
• Ensure reports and dashboards are understandable, useful and appropriate for the intended audience.
• Research reporting discrepancies and resolve issues affecting the accuracy or usefulness of information.

Data Development & Integration

• Develop and maintain data processes that integrate information from the Bank's core system, lending systems, third-party platforms and other business applications to support reporting and analytical needs.
• Write and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures and scripts used to support reporting, analysis and data integration.
• Develop and maintain data models, reporting databases and ETL/ELT processes that support reliable and efficient reporting.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data processes, integrations and reporting issues.
• Support system implementations, conversions and upgrades involving reporting or data integration.
• Monitor and improve query, database and reporting performance as needed.

Data Quality, Governance & Documentation

• Validate the accuracy, completeness and consistency of information used in reports and dashboards.
• Research and resolve data discrepancies in partnership with the appropriate departments.
• Maintain consistent data definitions and reporting standards across the Bank.
• Maintain documentation for reports, data sources, processes, integrations and developed solutions.
• Apply appropriate security and access controls to protect customer, team member and Bank information.
• Support data governance practices that promote reliable and consistent use of information throughout the Bank.

Technology & Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to simplify or automate recurring reports, manual data processes and other reporting activities.
• Improve existing reporting and data processes to increase accuracy, efficiency and usability.
• Evaluate new reporting tools, technologies and capabilities based on practical Bank needs.
• Provide technical support for data and reporting needs associated with Bank projects and initiatives.
• Support continued improvement of the Bank's reporting and business intelligence capabilities as organizational needs evolve.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBLITIES

• Support Bank initiatives and special projects as assigned.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in business intelligence, SQL development, data development, analytics or similar job duties.
• Advanced experience developing reports, dashboards and data solutions using Microsoft Power BI and SQL.
• Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT, database development and data integration.
• Strong understanding of data visualization, reporting and business intelligence development practices.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SSRS, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric or similar technologies preferred.
• Banking or financial services experience preferred.
• Advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred.
