Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a quantitative field.
• 5+ years in BI development, data warehousing, or related roles.
• Strong SQL skills for querying, manipulation and analysis.

• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling.

About the Role

Our client, a progressive analytics firm operating in Queenstown , is seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Intelligence Developer to enhance their data warehousing and reporting capabilities. This role is critical in transforming complex business requirements into insightful dashboards and reports that drive strategic decision-making across the organization. You will be responsible for the entire BI development lifecycle, from data modeling and ETL development to dashboard creation and performance optimization. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills in BI tools and SQL, coupled with excellent analytical and communication abilities. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact on data strategy in the Eastern Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust data warehouse solutions and data models.
• Develop and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• Create interactive and insightful dashboards and reports using BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik Sense.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and actionable BI solutions.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver effective reporting solutions.
• Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for business improvement.
• Ensure data quality and integrity through rigorous testing and validation.
• Optimize query performance and BI solution performance.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest BI technologies and trends.
• Provide training and support to end-users on BI tools and reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in business intelligence development, data warehousing, or a related role.
• Proven expertise in SQL for data querying, manipulation, and analysis.
• Strong experience with BI tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik Sense, including dashboard design and development.
• Experience in designing and developing ETL processes using tools like SSIS, Informatica, or Talend.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex data insights to non-technical audiences.
• Experience working in an agile development environment is a plus.
• Knowledge of cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure Synapse Analytics, AWS Redshift) is advantageous.
