We are seeking a Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to join our Corporate IT organization. This position will be able to work remotely from anywhere in the United States.
Reporting to Manager, EIM, this role involves supporting the data and reporting requirements of AFL’s Key Business Units. Under general supervision, the applicant will design, develop, implement, enhance and maintain software applications partnering with internal business solution, business analysts, and systems analysts. This role requires heavy interaction with Key business leaders, analysts and managers to understand the daily operations and future goals. This will then have to be converted to requirements and/or reports. The focus of this individual is Data Analysis and Enterprise Reporting and is expected to consistently follow the Agile in all development activities.
Responsibilities
- Participates in projects to design and develops data delivery solutions using Power BI
- Works with internal and external customers and suppliers to understand the business requirements behind requested computing initiatives
- Familiar with ETL and data integration solutions
- Implement design patterns and industry best-practices to develop secure robust integration applications
- Provide inputs on data transfer techniques into high-level solution architecture
- Provide input for capacity planning and sizing of various ETL and ESB components
- Actively collaborate with developers and other project resources
- Consistently demonstrates sound software development practices, following the System Development Life Cycle methodology to produce efficient, maintainable, value-adding application products.
- Questions existing processes and procedures (both administrative and technical) and offers suggestions and opinions for continuous improvement.
- Communicates technical ideas and concepts in non-technical language to the business.
- Mentors other team members of development team on projects and tasks
- Adheres to and promotes the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL.
- Understanding of Mastering Data (MDM)
Qualifications
- Minimum of Associate’s degree Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Business Administration
- Development experience in application development involving data transfers
- Solid work experience with PowerBI
- Good understanding of ETL Processes and Best Practices
- Sound Knowledge of SOAP, REST, JMS architecture Concepts and PUB/SUB Pattern
- Strong knowledge of web services security
- Good knowledge of Java SE, Java EE, XML, XML Schema, XSD, XSLT/XPath and JSON technologies
- Experience documenting and communicating integration designs aligned to business requirements
- Advanced Experience designing complex queries and working with standard object/relational databases such as Oracle, MS SQL, PostGres
- Experience Tuning Database and application queries
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in the manufacturing industry preferred
- Basic Linux experience – application Administration
