About the Opportunity

ZipStaff is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to perform advanced business analysis work related to implementing complex, emerging technology hardware and software projects supporting Mainframe Reports for a state regulatory agency focused on oil and gas.

Duties involve use of multiple methods in gathering, developing, and documenting requirements; the review, assessment, and development of business processes; the creation and validation of user acceptance testing; and research and special project support. This role works under limited to minimal direction, with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment. The focus of the work is data-related, including data analysis, root cause analysis of data errors, data flow documentation, report developments, and data posting on the DIR Open Data Portal or agency website. Requires knowledge and background in Power BI, Snowflake, and data publishing.

What You’ll Do

• Perform advanced (senior-level) business analysis for complex projects supporting Mainframe Reports.
• Gather, develop, and document requirements using multiple methods.
• Review, assess, and develop business processes.
• Create and validate user acceptance testing.
• Conduct data analysis, root cause analysis of data errors, data flow documentation, and report development.
• Support data posting on the DIR Open Data Portal or agency website.
• Ensure deliverables and materials are produced and maintained in accordance with established processes and procedures, are of consistent quality, and use accepted business analysis methodologies.
• Provide research and special project support to users.
• Work under limited supervision with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment; may assign and/or supervise the work of others.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience with strong interpersonal, collaborative, analytical, written/verbal/presentation communication skills in English.
• 8+ years of experience in gathering requirements and creating reports.
• 8+ years of experience facilitating creation and analysis of business requirements and working with business area personnel to design technical solutions.
• 5+ years participating in and providing guidance to business in developing and completing user acceptance testing, training, and implementation-related activities.
• 2+ years of experience with Snowflake and Power BI.
• Ability to work fully remote.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
• Background supporting mainframe reporting environments or data publishing to open data portals.
• Experience supervising or guiding other analysts.
• Familiarity with state regulatory or government agency processes.
