Job summary

Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences seeks a seasoned registrar professional to lead operations including enrolment services, academic planning, and information systems improvements.

This role collaborates across Harvard College, HUIT, GSAS, and business analysts; responsible for data governance, training, and UAT of student information systems; 35 hours per week.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of post-secondary work experience with 3–5 years in business analysis or registrar work.
  • Experience using data for decision-making, reporting and analysis.

Job Summary

Lead registrar operations including enrolment services, academic planning, technology solutions implementation, and policy development.

Job-Specific Responsibilities
  • Act as a key business process and student systems liaison to our constituents including Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT), Harvard College, and the Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Science (GSAS); guide and prioritize reinvention of existing processes across all sub-units in the FAS Registrar's Office including Academic Planning, Enrollment Services, and Information & Records Management
    In collaboration with the Registrar leadership team, contribute to the unit's overall strategic plan; propose robust solutions to FAS complex business needs;
    Serve as point of escalation for review of data requests related to student records and course information; conduct data reporting and analysis across registrar portfolios; develop expertise regarding security roles and access to student information systems;
  • provide support for EMS room reservation system
  • Serve as primary facilitator of critical training for new employees and advise Business Analysts (BA) in the Registrar's Office on data governance best practices across teams; conduct collaborative Registrar Business Analyst peer group meetings and support mentorship opportunities
  • Lead complex user acceptance testing efforts for the student information system and other processes. Ensure that documentation, configuration, and testing of enhancements and fixes meet established deadlines.
  • Act as dedicated Business Analyst for Academic Planning unit needs regarding reporting, process reinvention, student information systems training

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, business analytics, computer science, information technology or related field
  • Master's degree in statistics, business analytics, computer science, information technology, higher education administration or related field
  • 7+ years of post-secondary work experience with 3 to 5 years in business analysis, project management, registrar or other higher education unit;
  • Experience using data for decision-making, reporting, and analysis
  • Experience using Peoplesoft Campus Solutions and its various modules and tools, and/or other student information systems
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated team performance and leadership skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor
Certificates and Licenses

Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred

  • Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week

Work Format Details

This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
