Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior BRT Project Manager to lead California transportation initiatives in San Francisco, Oakland, and surrounding areas. You will drive technical delivery, oversee multi-disciplinary teams, and work with agencies to deliver complex BRT programs.

Join a growing national practice and mentor staff while shaping projects from concept through construction, including planning, design, and execution, with opportunities to travel and influence policy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or similar designation.
  • 12+ years of transit project experience or equivalent.
  • Experience delivering transit projects with agencies and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead California BRT business development and strategic initiatives.
  • Serve as a technical expert on BRT projects through all phases.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams to deliver contracts up to $50M.
  • Mentor staff and contribute to proposals and business development.

WSP has contributed to BRT projects throughout the U.S. as well as internationally, some of which are highly advanced with systems that combine the latest technology with efficient, low-impact vehicle operations, state-of-the-art busways, stations and signaling designs. BRT continues to be a transport mode of choice in communities across the world -providing a faster, more reliable, and comfortable transit experience for riders. From feasibility studies, planning, preliminary engineering, and final design to construction-phase services, vehicle procurement, station-area planning, and commissioning - the WSP BRT team helps agencies and clients deliver projects and programs through every phase.

WSP is currently initiating a search for aSenior BRT Project Managerfor northern California (San Francisco, Oakland, Antioch).

Your Impact
  • Lead California BRT business development and strategic initiatives in areas such as Sacramento and West Sacramento. Be a leader in developing our BRT team in California.
  • Serve as a technical expert on BRT projects across all phases, from concept to construction to revenue service.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams to deliver medium ($1 million) to large contracts ($50 million).
  • Manage contract negotiations, scope and fee development, project setup, subcontracts, change management, management plans (Project Management Plans, Quality Management Plans, Risk Management Plans, Project Safety Plans), and project reviews.
  • Manage delivery of scope, schedule, and budget in collaboration with task managers.
  • Serve as primary point-of-contact for clients on projects.
  • Mentor and train staff in BRT best practices, including delivery, design, and quality.
  • Opportunities to support delivery of BRT projects nationally with technical expertise, including opportunities to travel.
  • Demonstrate your skills to the industry through conference presentations and paper publication.
  • Assist in growing the business by building relationships, writing marketing proposals, and providing other business development support.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • A collaborator, communicator, and systems thinker. A self-motivator that requires minimal oversight.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, innovator, and problem-solver.
  • Comfortable with navigating complex, challenging, and rewarding projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or similar designation.
  • 12+ plus years of experience in transit projects or equivalent.
  • Experience working with agencies to deliver transit projects.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement, including collaborating with local governments, local and federal agencies, community groups, and elected leadership.
  • Demonstrated organizational and communications skills.
  • Strong experience in managing the review and approval of documents and discipline-specific deliverables, certifications, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or similar graduate level degree
  • PE license.
  • Direct experience with BRT

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $174,800 - $230,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
