Job summary

MetroNational is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer in Houston to lead complex preventive maintenance and corrective repairs across buildings and industrial systems. You will oversee multi-trade tasks including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, ensuring facilities run efficiently while minimizing downtime.

The role requires at least 5 years in building operations, trade-school training, and knowledge of building automation systems.

Qualifications

Trade school training with a minimum of 5 years building operations experience.
Experience in operation, maintenance and repair of HVAC, boilers, heaters, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, water systems, etc.
Licenses/permits such as Journeyman or Master Electrician, Refrigeration Certificate, High Pressure Boiler License, etc.

Responsibilities

Review daily work orders and assign tasks as necessary.
Oversee and inspect the work performed by engineering staff and ensure equipment is functional.
Formulate and implement a preventive maintenance program to extend system life.
Inspect building systems including HVAC, fire alarms, and plumbing for proper operation.
Estimate time and materials, maintain inventory, and order needed supplies.
Coordinate preventive maintenance and downtime with Chief Engineer/Property Manager.
Perform repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance and keep records.
Respond to emergencies and manage energy use to minimize costs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
