Job summary

UL LLC is seeking a Building Inspector to review commercial buildings for safety code compliance across local, state, and federal regulations. The role involves inspecting fire protection systems, reading technical documents, and traveling to engage with building owners and facility managers.

Ideal candidates bring a relevant degree and about five years of inspector or related trade experience, plus ICC certification. This is a home-based position with extensive travel in the Nashville area.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of building codes and standards.
• Strong verbal communication with customers and stakeholders.
• Analytical ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
• Proactive in identifying and reporting deviations from codes.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and coordinate with owners/managers.

Responsibilities

• Inspect complex buildings for fire and life safety compliance to local or international codes.
• Review and interpret building codes, drawings, instructions, and specifications.
• Travel to meet owners and facility managers and explain code procedures.
• Verify corrections of violations and ensure ongoing compliance.
• Maintain current knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards.
