The City of Hutchinson is seeking an experienced Building Official to lead the building and code compliance functions, protecting public safety and guiding development with clarity and confidence. This senior role requires strong technical expertise and a collaborative leadership style to balance efficient review with community protections.

You will supervise inspectors, review plans, oversee permits and occupancy decisions, and serve as liaison to the Building Trades Board.

Qualifications

• Requires five years of progressively responsible experience as Building Official/Inspector, including two years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of commercial and residential code interpretations and inspections.
• Ability to obtain ICC Certified Building Official within 24 months of employment.

Responsabilités

• Oversee building and code compliance inspection activities and plan reviews.
• Lead and develop the inspection team and ensure consistent customer-focused service.
• Guide permitting, occupancy decisions, and code enforcement as required.
• Represent the City with the Building Trades Board and other stakeholders.
