Job summary

PARS, a subsidiary of Willdan Group, Inc., is hiring a full-time Building Official to serve the Mesa, AZ area. The role focuses on reviewing and issuing permits, interpreting codes, and guiding project teams through regulatory requirements.

You will inspect structures, testify at hearings, train staff, and manage building safety programs while coordinating with clients and contractors. A strong background in ICC codes and public safety is essential.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
• ICC Certified Building Official.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Knowledge of building-related codes and ordinances enforced by a jurisdiction, including the International Code Council (ICC).

Responsibilities

• Review, request, and issue building permits.
• Examine plans to ensure compliance with codes.
• Inspect existing buildings for use changes or compliance.
• Provide guidance to architects, engineers, and contractors.
• Maintain records and prepare reports for authorities.
• Testify at appeal hearings regarding code violations.
