Job summary

• Extensive knowledge of adopted building codes for residential and commercial work.
• Ability to conduct thorough field inspections and review plans for code deficiencies.
• Strong communication skills with contractors and the public.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of residential and commercial structures for framing, plumbing, gas, electrical and mechanical installations.
• Approve official documents permitting construction, remodeling, renovation, demolition and occupancy.
• Input inspection results into an automated software program and complete required paperwork.
• Place stop work orders when permits have not been obtained.
• Explain building code requirements to contractors and the public.
