Job summary
The City of Buda, TX is seeking a qualified inspector to perform advanced residential and commercial inspections and plan reviews to protect public health, safety, and welfare. You will verify compliance with building codes, ordinances, and state/federal requirements while guiding staff and coordinating with applicants, design professionals, and other agencies.
Responsibilities include reviewing complex plans, applying codes, issuing notices, and ensuring timely, defensible decisions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years municipal building-inspection experience or 5 years general-construction experience.
- Equivalent education/training acceptable where licenses required by law.
- Valid TX driver license and clean driving record.
- Licenses and certifications preferred: Plumbing Inspector, ICC Residential Inspector.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced residential and commercial inspections and plan reviews.
- Interpret codes, issue inspection results and correction notices.
- Provide guidance to staff and coordinate with applicants and professionals.
- Review plans and leave clear comments to support permitting decisions.
- Train and mentor less-experienced inspectors as needed.
