Job description

The future is now, Willdan is "Envisioning the Future" of Building & Safety through our work with cities, buildings, and transportation. Willdan has a current opening for an ICC-Certified Building Inspector in the Riverside, CA area. The Inspector shall be responsible for inspecting commercial, residential, and industrial properties during and after construction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Conduct inspections before, during, and after construction to ensure that the building and construction site complies with safety, structural, and building code regulations.
2. Issue violation notices, stop-work orders, and permits for construction.
3. Documents results of inspections.
4. Effectively communicates findings to homeowners and contractors.
5. Coordinates with and assists other field inspectors. Picks up extra inspections as needed.
6. Explains and clarifies code related problems with contractor field personnel.
7. Communicates and upholds standards consistently.
8. Conducts building damage assessment inspections.
9. Invests time in continued education.
10. Provide training and mentoring to current inspectors, coordinate and assist in selection and training of new staff.
11. Follow up on phone calls and compliant issues.
12. Handle customer service issues for walk-ins that need clarification on code-related issues.
13. Serve as a resource for inspectors in the field.
14. Interpret and apply standards and regulations for Building, Electrical, Elevator, Mechanical, Plumbing.
15. Conduct ride along with field inspectors to provide ongoing supervision and feedback regarding job performance and consistency on filed calls.
16. Maintain awareness of new development in the field of inspections; incorporate new developments as appropriate into programs.
17. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

1. International Code Council (ICC) Combination Certification (Commercial, Residential, and associated Trades).
2. 3-5 years' experience.
3. Ability to lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.
4. Municipal experience highly desirable.
