Building Maintenance Systems Inc. (BMSI) in Rockville, MD is seeking a Chief Building Engineer to oversee engineers and maintenance staff. You will operate, maintain, and repair boilers, chillers, and central plant equipment, while supervising electrical, HVAC, and life safety systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in commercial buildings maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of engineering/building systems.
• Trades education and training history.
• Ability to operate, troubleshoot, maintain, install and repair equipment.
• Tech literacy to use work order apps and BAS/BMS.
• High school diploma or equivalent; fluent English.
• Occasional overtime for repairs.
• Lift 50 lbs, stairs/climbing, off-hours work as needed.
• Reliable transportation; CFC Universal cert.
• Licenses (DC/MD Steam) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supports daily operation of all mechanical equipment in the plant and building.
• Maintains/repairs mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and control systems.
• Monitors refrigeration, boilers, pumps, and lighting equipment.
• Troubleshoots MEP systems with minimal supervision.
• Handles tenant service requests with minimal disruption.
• Manages Building Management System (BMS) / Energy Management System.
• Maintains maintenance logs and performs preventive tasks.
• Leads engineering team and coordinates with contractors.
• Follows safety procedures and supports emergency training.
