Job summary

Worth Ross Management Company (WRMC) seeks a Chief Building Engineer to oversee the engineering and maintenance operations of a luxury residential high-rise in Downtown Austin. You will report directly to the General Manager and ensure all building systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of engineering or building operations experience.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevators, life safety systems, and mechanical operations.
• Experience managing preventive maintenance programs and building inspections.
• Familiarity with local regulatory and inspection requirements (City of Austin preferred).
• Experience supervising maintenance teams and coordinating vendors.
• Knowledge of BuildingLink or Vantaca is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and engineering operations of building systems, including common areas and amenities.
• Develop and manage a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
• Supervise, train, and support the maintenance team for safety and performance.
• Coordinate inspections, repairs, and contracted services with vendors.
• Monitor utilities and provide quarterly cost analysis and energy efficiency recommendations.
• Maintain compliance with City, County, State, and OSHA regulations.
• Ensure safety systems are properly maintained (fire pumps, life safety, emergency systems).
• Maintain documentation of maintenance requests and completed work.
• Support sustainability initiatives and green energy certifications.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in after-hours on-call rotations.
