Job summary

ESFM seeks a full-time Building Engineer LC in Florence, KY to perform skilled maintenance and lead engineering efforts on site. The role emphasizes reliability, safety, and adherence to preventive maintenance practices.

You will manage repairs, train staff, and coordinate with supervisors to ensure facility uptime. The position requires 3–5 years in building maintenance, a valid journeyman credential or equivalent license, and the ability to work across electrical and mechanical systems.

Qualifications

• Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling.
• Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.
• Two years of experience as a licensed Journeyman in the specialized trade.

Responsibilities

• Assists in making decisions on all normal and complex repairs; reports major problems to the maintenance supervisor and foreman.
• Constructs, finishes, installs, maintains and repairs electrical and mechanical systems, or the facilities of related systems, using power and hand tools.
• Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs or diagnoses malfunction of HVAC, electrical and mechanical building systems, sterilizers, sprinkler/standpipe systems, transport systems, electronic signaling and fire alarm systems.
• Supervises and leads a group of workers on a project.
• Reads, comprehends and transmits complicated detailed instructions verbally and in writing.
• Teaches advanced maintenance skills to other members of the department.
• Reviews work of outside vendors and licensed maintenance workers; makes punch lists.
• Reports on and repairs discrepancies as assigned.
• Analyzes and corrects complex building system problems, alone or as part of a team.
• Maintains logs, performs rounds and completes work orders, tests and inspections.
• Makes recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems.
• Serves as a member of facility emergency response team.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
