Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Senior Building Engineer to perform preventive and corrective maintenance, installations, and operations of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC/R equipment for high-performance buildings. About The Role

As a CBRE Senior Building Engineer, you will be responsible for performing sophisticated preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs and installations of electrical, mechanical, plumbing and/or HVAC/R (refrigeration) equipment, chillers, and components of critical infrastructure for high-performance industrial buildings, designed to ensure continuous cooling, power reliability, and centralized control. Working under general direction, supervises building system operations and performance.

This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function and is responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Follows all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Operates, maintains, monitors, and performs preventive and predictive maintenance on building equipment, which may include: mechanical/HVAC-R/plumbing systems, electrical/cabling, fire detection and suppression, life safety, lighting, temperature control systems, building management systems, and digital systems.
  • Operates and maintains equipment to deliver maximum uptime.
  • Maintains the professional appearances of the property, equipment, engineering spaces, and common areas.
  • Maintains the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements.
  • Prepares estimates detailing the amount of time and materials needed for completing tasks.
  • Maintains adequate supplies and tools and orders vital materials to finish the tasks.
  • Coordinates and inspects the work performed by outside contractors.
  • Contracted work may include the following but is not limited to: landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC/R, plumbing, and cleaning.
  • Performs work in compliance with standard operating procedures and/or critical work packages, and maintenance work instructions.
  • Performs niche and sophisticated tasks such as carpentry, electrical, painting, roofing, HVAC, welding, furniture assembly/relocation and locksmith tasks.
  • Performs inspection of building systems including fire alarms, HVAC/R, plumbing and electrical.
  • Uses PC and/or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training.
  • Performs general maintenance and building systems operational duties as assigned or directed.
Supervisory Responsibilities

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. Coordinates and assigns tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.

Perform Preventive Maintenance And Corrective Repair Of The Following
  • HVAC
  • Chiller Plant, Generator, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), and STS (Static Transfer Switch)
  • BMS (Building Management System)
  • Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (M.E.P.)
What You'll Need

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and trade school or training.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years experience in electrical systems, and/or HVAC/R, Stationary and Facilities engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • EPA certification required
CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES

Additional certification in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair.

OTHER SKILLS And/or ABILITIES

Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems.

Ability to analyze possible solutions using technical experience to apply appropriate judgment and precedents.

Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.

In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
