Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Building Engineer to monitor, maintain, and repair building systems on-site in Missouri. The role covers plumbing, electrical, heating, cooling, roofing, and safety systems, with a focus on reliability and energy efficiency.

The candidate should have 4–5 years of related experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and preferably EPA certification. The job includes on-call coverage and on-site teamwork, with CBRE values guiding day-to-day work.

  • Universal EPA certification preferred; other facilities certifications may help.
  • Experience with plant maintenance (boilers & chillers) and solid mechanical/plumbing skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., stoop, stand, climb stairs/ladders.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and analytical math ability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems.
  • Comply with codes, regulations, governmental agency directives, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain an energy management program to optimize system efficiency.
  • Assist with implementing preventive maintenance and emergency repairs as needed.
  • Follow safety policies for handling hazardous materials and keep a safe workplace.
  • Review inspections of building systems like fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure design specs are met.
  • Apply knowledge to solve complex assignments and share expertise with team.
  • Lead by example and promote CBRE RISE values in teamwork and decision making.
  • Impact a range of customer, operational, and project activities within the team.
  • Explain difficult information clearly to stakeholders.

About The Role

As a CBRE Building Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining and repairing building system operations and the performance of various areas including plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling.

As a CBRE Building Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining and repairing building system operations and the performance of various areas including plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling.

This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems. (To include boilers and chillers)

This role is on site Monday - Friday, 7:00 - 3:30 with occasional on call.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform maintenance and repairs to the mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems. Keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Maintain an energy management program. Ensure all systems operate in the most efficient manner.
  • Assist with the implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life. Perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Follow departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Review inspection to building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by client.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.
  • Coach others and share in-depth knowledge of own job discipline and broad knowledge of several job disciplines within the function.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Work to build consensus and convince others to reach an agreement.
  • Impact a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams.
  • Work within broad guidelines and policies.
  • Explain difficult or sensitive information.
What You’ll Need
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Universal EPA certification is preferred. Other facilities type certifications/ licenses as may be helpful as well.
  • To be successful in this role, the candidate should have experience with "plant maintenance." (i.e. boilers & chillers, solid mechanical and plumbing skills)
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
  • Sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate mildly complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.
