Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a full-time Lead Consultant – Commissioning for our New York City office. This role leads commissioning and retro-commissioning of building systems across public and private sectors, coordinating testing, reporting, and turnover from construction to operation.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of commissioning experience, a Bachelor's in engineering, and strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit. Travel may be required; excellent communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of building and systems commissioning experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of commissioning principles and design-build delivery.
• Experience with planning, design, construction, and installation management.

Responsibilities

• Lead collection, compilation, and analysis of site observations, surveys, drawings, schematics, tech data, and other project information for energy audits, validation, and commissioning activities.
• Perform building and systems commissioning through research and field inspections to verify conformance to codes and standards.
• Develop and oversee system configurations, testing specs, readiness plans, checklists, punch lists, and cost estimates with owners, clients, design teams, and subconsultants.
• Own commissioning deliverables from inception through design, procurement, integration, turnover, and operation.
• Apply monitoring, modeling, and operating strategies to verify proper installation and performance.
• Verify site conditions and provide technical leadership on installation and operation of HVAC, steam, and building systems.
• Lead cross-functional teams on mid-sized or multiple projects with budgets, schedules, and resources accountability.
• Coordinate and approve commissioning plans ensuring data integrity and codes compliance.
• Prepare reports, drawings, and spreadsheets to communicate findings clearly.
• Maintain QA logs and accuracy for equipment verification and testing.
• Support scoping, budgeting, and delivery strategy for mid-to large-scale projects.
• Mentor and train entry- and mid-level commissioning staff.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations with findings and recommendations.
• Analyze site data and develop action plans for mitigation issues.
• Prepare and implement Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
• Represent WSP with clients, subcontractors, and authorities.
• Collaborate with engineers, inspectors, and technicians on projects.
• Maintain knowledge of commissioning technologies and industry practices.
• Exercise ethical judgment in use of company funds and resources.
• Perform other duties as required.
