Job summary

City of Hillsboro seeks a Chief Building Official (CBO) to lead the building department. You will inspect new and existing structures, enforce code compliance, review plans, and issue notices to ensure housing and zoning regulations are met.

Responsibilities include field and office work, coordinating with city leadership, maintaining records, and enforcing city zoning laws. Strong communication, problem solving, and customer service are essential for this safety-critical role.

Qualifications

• Training and/or experience in maintenance and/or construction.
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License
• CBO Certification

Responsibilities

• Inspects commercial, industrial, and residential buildings during inspections.
• Reviews plans and specifications for compliance with code provisions.
• Issues compliance and/or violation notices establishing time constraints for compliance.
• On call twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week.
