Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Building Code & Life Safety Specialist to lead complex Life Safety designs and effective code reviews in line with ICC and NFPA standards. You will communicate code requirements to officials, developers, and contractors while guiding multi-discipline teams.

Preferred candidates bring extensive experience in life safety design, code interpretation, and project leadership within building departments or fire authorities, delivering compliant, safe facilities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a closely related field, or high school diploma with related experience.
• NFPA, ICC certifications or specialized credentials related to Fire & Life Safety.
• Strong computer skills using AutoCAD, Revit 3D Modeling and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to lead designs in the area of expertise.

Responsibilities

• Communicate code requirements effectively to city officials, developers, designers, and contractors.
• Develop non-routine and complex Life Safety designs for facilities in compliance with ICC and NFPA standards.
• Lead projects and code review teams for HDR’s Building Code & Life Safety expertise.
• Research building codes, regulations and provide analysis and recommendations to clients.
• Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction and provide project support.
• Draft and edit code reviews and reports for specified scopes of work.
