Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Senior Building Code & Life Safety Specialist to lead complex life-safety designs and code reviews. You’ll collaborate with architects, engineers, and authorities having jurisdiction to ensure compliant, safe, and innovative facilities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Advanced NFPA/ICC certifications or credentials in Fire & Life Safety.
• Strong skills with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to lead designs and manage projects in life-safety contexts.

Responsibilities

• Communicate code requirements for the built environment to city officials, developers, designers, and contractors.
• Develop non-routine Life Safety designs compliant with ICC and NFPA standards.
• Create Life Safety designs including occupancy calculations, travel distances, code drawings, and passive fire protection systems.
• Network with building, fire and life-safety professionals and lead HDR code review teams.
• Research building codes and provide analyses and recommendations to clients and projects.
• Draft and edit code reviews and reports for specified scopes of work.
• Educate internal and external stakeholders on code and regulatory elements.
