Job summary

Hoffman Building Technologies, Inc. in Atlanta, GA seeks a Building Automation & Controls Hardware Design Engineer with 5+ years in BAS hardware design. You will design control panels, select DDC hardware, and craft wiring diagrams for complex commercial/industrial BAS projects.

Responsibilities include system topology, submittal packages, and integration with Chiller/DOAS/VRF systems. Expect NEC/UL 508A compliance and close collaboration with field teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hardware design engineering experience in Building Automation (BAS/BMS).
• Proficiency in creating submittals and hardware layouts with Visio or AutoCAD/Revit.
• Direct design experience with Distech Controls and the Tridium Niagara framework (N4/AX).
• Strong HVAC knowledge: chillers, steam, DOAS, VRF/VRV, VAV, AHU operations.
• Solid understanding of BACnet/IP, Modbus RTU/TCP; NEC and UL 508A familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Hardware and panel design for BAS/BMS, including layouts and wiring diagrams.
• Select and specify DDC controllers, sensors, actuators, meters, and VFDs.
• Design system networks using Niagara and Distech hardware platforms.
• Prepare submittals: BOMs, risers, network topologies and schedules.
• Integrate mechanical systems with control hardware for complex BAS projects.
• Ensure designs meet NEC and UL 508A; provide field startup support.
