Job summary

AXIS Capital invites an experienced Senior Underwriter to lead Builders Risk initiatives across major accounts. Based in the US with a hybrid work schedule, you will develop broker relationships, assess opportunities, and shape a profitable builders risk book.

You will underwrite large, complex construction risks, negotiate terms, and collaborate with retail brokers to drive growth while maintaining disciplined portfolio management and high professional standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of builders risk underwriting experience on accounts with TIV over $200M.
• Proven track record delivering profitable results.
• In-depth knowledge of builder’s risk coverage, pricing and marketplace dynamics.
• Able to communicate underwriting concepts to audiences of varying experience.
• Able to work autonomously as well as in a team.

Responsibilities

• Establish yourself as a go-to builder’s risk expert with brokers and customers.
• Analyze and qualify opportunities based on appetite and communicate clearly.
• Underwrite within the governance framework.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions and participation.
• Develop relationships with broker partners to support retention.
• Identify client needs and provide recommendations and solutions.
• Be proactive in the market to seek new business.
• Manage portfolio (new and renewal) aligned to goals.
• Attend industry events as a respected AXIS team member.
• Conduct partner meetings to identify improvements.
• Collaborate across the organization to meet client needs.
• Support training for junior underwriters when needed.
