Job summary

Xona, the navigational intelligence company, is seeking a Sr. Build & Release Software Engineer to own compilation infrastructure and CI/CD for our satellite-focused C++ stack running on Embedded Linux.

You will optimize build times, manage toolchains, and ensure reproducible releases across simulated and hardware environments, working with GCC/Clang and cross-compilation. Collaboration with core developers is essential to improve modular builds.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years building C++ large-scale systems.
• Proficient with CMake and GNU Make/Ninja.
• Strong Linux shell scripting (Bash).
• Experience with embedded Linux and cross-compilation.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and distributed builds.

Responsibilities

• Design, maintain, and optimize cross-platform build systems using CMake and Bazel.
• Manage and upgrade compiler toolchains (GCC, Clang) and dependencies.
• Own, scale, and secure CI/CD workflows for large-scale C++ apps.
• Diagnose and optimize compilation and linking bottlenecks.
• Ensure cross-compilation across x86 and ARM.
• Support testing in Docker and QEMU environments.
• Write tooling scripts in Python/Bash for provisioning and artifacts.
• Collaborate with core C++ developers to improve builds and dependencies.
