Job summary

Job Title:
Senior Build & Release Engineer - Drive Automation & Release Excellence

Overview:
Are you a seasoned Build & Release expert passionate about streamlining software deployment processes? We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Build & Release Engineer to own and elevate our release pipeline for a complex, multi-repository software platform. In this pivotal role, you'll lead the automation of build, packaging, and distribution workflows, reducing manual toil and cutting release lead times. Your expertise will shape the future of our release infrastructure, including evaluating mono repo strategies, troubleshooting intricate build failures, and building robust, dependency-aware pipelines. Required Skills:

• Hands-on experience with multi-module Maven build systems, adept at dependency management and build sequencing.
• Proven experience working with mono repo architectures, including dependency graph management, incremental builds (e.g., Bazel, Nx, Turborepo, or Maven multi-module setups).
• Strong proficiency with CI/CD tools, especially Jenkins (Groovy pipelines) and modern platforms like GitHub Actions.
• Extensive experience with Windows installer packaging (MSI) and associated code signing workflows.
• Expertise in version control management, particularly Git/GitHub workflows for releases and multi-repo coordination.
• Skilled in scripting languages such as PowerShell and Groovy for automation tasks.
• Methodical troubleshooting capabilities for diagnosing build and packaging failures.
• Effective communicator, able to coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with dependency graph visualization and build optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with build optimization tools like Bazel, Nx, or Turborepo.
• Knowledge of DORA metrics and leveraging them to improve deployment pipelines.
• Prior experience in evaluating and migrating toward mono repo structures.
• Cloud-based signing services and advanced security practices for release integrity.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in build and release engineering, DevOps, or software automation roles.
• Demonstrated success in managing end-to-end release cycles in complex environments.

• This position is based in Westbrook, ME, with a hybrid work model.
• Must be able to start ASAP.
