Job summary

University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) in Boulder, CO, seeks a Budget Analyst III in the Office of the CFO embedded within UCAR's Community Programs. This senior role provides financial leadership for sponsored research, guiding budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance across centers and programs.

You will partner with UCP leadership and BSS to design controls, develop MTDC forecasts, and translate complex financial data into actionable insights for leadership

Qualifications

• Senior-level financial leadership for sponsored research across the award lifecycle
• Ability to forecast MTDC and indirect costs
• Experience with audits and compliance reviews
• Strong collaboration with central finance and program leadership

Responsibilities

• Provides senior-level financial expertise on sponsored research across the award lifecycle, including budgeting, management, forecasting, reporting, and closeout.
• Advises UCP leadership and BSS on sponsor requirements, award terms and conditions, financial risks, and compliance considerations affecting sponsored programs.
• Evaluates the financial health and sustainability of UCP research portfolios and recommends strategies to support effective financial stewardship and program decision-making.
• Develops and strengthens financial management standards, internal controls, and procedures to promote compliance with applicable federal regulations, sponsor requirements, and UCAR policies.
• Leads development, monitoring, and forecasting of the UCP indirect cost budget, including MTDC generation, indirect spending, and resource allocation recommendations.
