Job summary

Salt Lake County seeks a seasoned leader to advance budgeting and long-range financial planning. You will provide technical leadership in analysis, forecasting, reporting, and budget system administration, serving as a lead resource in key areas.

With a strong background in government budgeting and data analysis, you will supervise staff, develop forecasts, and guide executive decision-making while ensuring compliance with laws and policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field; six years of budgeting/financial analysis experience; two years supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee annual budget development process, timelines, and agency submissions.
• Monitor budgets, revenues, expenditures, and projections; identify trends and risks.
• Develop complex revenue forecasting models and analyses for decision-making.
• Supervise professional and technical staff; manage performance and discipline.
• Prepare revenue analyses, variance reports, and supporting documentation for leadership.
• Lead revenue forecasting areas; monitor economic trends and update assumptions.
• Analyze proposed state legislation for fiscal/operational impact and recommendations.
• Support budget reporting and transparency with dashboards and accessible reporting tools.
• Oversee budget system administration and data integrity; improve reporting capabilities.
