Job summary

Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) in Atlanta seeks a Budget Analyst 3 to support the Office Family Independence within the DFCS Budget Office. You will analyze budgets, prepare operating plans, and collaborate with program managers to optimize spending.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in accounting, business/public administration, or finance; four years of fiscal analysis experience.
• Two years of experience at Budget Analyst 2 or equivalent.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s or Associate’s in related field plus fiscal analysis experience.
• Two years of lower-level Budget Analyst 2 experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Develops, prepares, analyzes and revises supporting schedules for the OFI within the DFCS Budget Office.
• Analyzes budget programs, policies and legislative proposals; recommends actions.
• Load budgets into GA@Work and UAS; enter revisions to budgets.
• Prepare multi-level budgets for OFI and Regional Programs with multiple fund sources.
• Prepare quarterly expenditures and grant-related projections.
• Review expenditures and ensure proper general ledger coding and journal entries.
• Provide and approve budget codes and funding for requisitions and hiring.
• Monitor Purchase orders and ensure liquidation within grant periods.
• Meet with Program Managers to discuss budget needs and realignments.
• Work with Regional Accounting to track expenditures and run budget reports.
• Utilize Budget Comparison Reports to ensure accuracy.
