Job summary

Benesch's Raleigh office seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead the Bridge design team, focusing on complex projects, load rating, and NBIS inspections. The role requires NC-licensed PE with 20+ years in bridge design, strong leadership, and experience with NCDOT and ABC approaches.

Hybrid work arrangement with collaborative, client-facing responsibilities. You will mentor junior engineers, prepare proposals, and ensure design budgets and schedules are met while delivering high-quality

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• PE License in North Carolina.
• Minimum of 20 years of bridge design, load rating and inspection experience.
• Experience with Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC).
• Experience working with NCDOT and municipalities.
• Excellent communication and client relation skills.
• Strong organization and leadership skills with a track record for adhering to design budgets and schedules.
• Ability to lead complex analysis and design efforts.
• Ability to assemble a complete design package for assigned elements or projects.

Responsibilities

• Review contract documents, including structural calculations, plans and specifications for bridge design projects
• Manage the process of compiling and coordinating plans, specifications, cost estimates and pay items in accordance with NCDOT standards
• Prepare and review bridge load rating reports to NCDOT standards
• Plan and perform bridge and tunnel inspections to NBIS and NCDOT standards
• Prepare and review bridge and tunnel inspection reports to NBIS and NCDOT standards
• Lead structural designers and inspectors on bridge design, load rating and inspection projects
• Assume responsibility for assigned design calculation files and plans
• Assure adequate independent QC reviews on that work
• Assist in the preparation of SOQs, proposals, and contracts
