Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in Raleigh, NC seeks a Senior Bridge Engineer to advance design and rehabilitation of bridges and related structures. You’ll mentor staff, plan projects, and coordinate with clients while contributing to NBIS and inspection initiatives.

The role requires a PE license in NC (or comity) within 6 months and extensive experience with AASHTO standards, NCDOT procedures, and bridge software. Excellent leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• PE license in North Carolina or ability to obtain via comity within 6 months.
• 16+ years of bridge design experience.
• Experience with NCDOT Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and CMGC.
• Strong knowledge of AASHTO bridge specifications.
• Experience mentoring and leading staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and rehabilitation of bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and sound barriers.
• Prepare complete contract documents, cost estimates, and technical reports.
• Grow NBIS Bridge Inspection program; manage project budgets and schedules.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate with clients.
